NUMBER PLATE BRACKET ALTERATION
99.9%
of Dragster owners seem to have complained at some point about
the length of the standard number plate holder sticking out too
far. There are a number of ways that you can fix this, here's
one method, it literally costs nothing and your bike will have
a better profile as a result:

Tools
needed:
Hack Saw, 6mm Drill, 4mm Hex Key.
1.
Remove number-plate, disconnect wiring and remove number-plate
holder from scooter. Take the section of mud-guard that holds
the number-plate and cut off 16 cm (7.5 inches) off the top end
- straight across. This is the part with the small 6mm hole in,
then take off the number-plate light (if you haven't already done
so).
2. Next, position the number-plate holder to the under-side
of the bracket that the original number-plate was attached to.
Hold it centrally to the metal fins, rubbing it backwards and
forwards until the fins make score marks. Then cut 4 cm slots
down the score marks.
If you are lucky enough to have one of the holders with two fins
either side, under-neath, then it's easy. Cut the length off 16
cm (as above) and then cut down 4cm with a hack-saw down the outside
of the fins underneath the holder.
3. Having done this, push the holder up against the two
metal fins underneath the indicators. Push up with as much force
as you can - the two metal fins should slot into the two 4cm slots
you have cut. Then push up and pulling towards the back of the
Dragster - this should then fit tight!
4. Next, make a mark through the 6mm hole, in the part
that holds the indicators (this is the original hole that it was
held on by), and drill a 6mm hole through the holder. Now push
the holder back up under the indicators, where you had it before,
fins in the slots, pulled tightly to the back.
5. The two holes should line up - take the original hex
bolt and push through both holes. Yes there is a gap, this is
normal for the moment. Put a 6mm washer onto the bolt, pushing
up all the while. Then the wire holder, pushing up all the while,
then put on original nylox nut and tighten up as much as possible.
6. Push the holder towards the scooter (gently). You will
feel slight pressure as it tries to push back - this is good.
Now attach the number-plate light, and bolt-up, whilst holding
the number-plate holder towards the Dragster. Once bolted-up -
then let the tension off. The number-plate holder should spring
back and hold itself under tension.
I've had mine fitted like this for 6 months now... and it finishes
the back-end off nicely! Some have commented that it gives it
that 'Ducati Monster' look, from behind! It's a money-saver -
you already have the parts! Takes about 20 minutes to fit!
