X-RACE AWARDS BASH

The winners of this years X-Race Championship are invited to collect their prizes and trophies at the X-Race Awards Bash which will be taking place at the Renaissance Hotel, South Normanton, Derbyshire on the 22nd January, 2005. This event is also one big party and the annual BSSO scooter circuit racing awards are being held at the same venue. So, if you're planning on going to this event then you'll have the chance to talk to scooter racers from all around the country.

If you would like to order some tickets for this event then please contact me ASAP before they sell out. Tickets are priced at £7.50 each to attend the party, or £25 each to attend a three course dinner, the awards and prize-giving and the party afterwards. If you would like to stay in the hotel overnight (which I would advise as the bar will be open late) then the price is £30 per head, you would need to quote 'BSSO' when booking for this specially discounted price. Included in the price is a full English breakfast and full access to all the hotel's facilities (sauna, jacuzzi, gymnasium, swimming pool etc.). X-Racers are encouraged to bring guests to the awards, if anyone else is interested in attending then please let me know.

12/10/04 : A big thanks to everyone who came to the final round of this year's X-Race series which took place at Elvington in North Yorkshire. Some excellent times were set at this meeting by a number of riders, one rider in particular Joe Elliott from Peterborough was able to set a new British record on PM Tuning's Dragster-based sprinter. An amazing 12.30 @ 98mph is currently the quickest quarter mile record on an automatic scooter. This meeting was not an official record meeting however (i.e. ejudicated by the ACU) and the record set by Joe Elliott on PM's sprinter is a one-way time. PM Tuning are hoping to go for an official British record some time next year.

Next up on the X-Race calendar is the Awards Bash which will be taking place at the Renaissance Hotel in South Normanton, Derbyshire. This will be taking place on the 22nd January next year which is a while away yet. If you would like to attend this event then tickets for the event are £7.50 each (if you wish to attend the party only). If you would like to attend the dinner (three course meal and awards ceremony + party afterwards) ticket prices are £25 each. Hotel rooms are also available at a discounted price of £30 per head for those attending this event.

The BSSO (British Scooter Sport Organisation) are organising this event so the annual BSSO awards will also be taking place at the same venue. This year VE (UK) are donating £1000 worth of prizes to this year's X-Race competitors. So if you participated in this year's championship and think you're eligible for a prize then make sure you come to the Awards Bash! PM Tuning will be once again donating trophies to the winners. Everyone who participated in X-Race this year will be well catered for and won't go home empty handed.

For more information about this event check out the official X-Race website. If you would like to order some tickets then please send me an email.

08/10/04 : The final round of this year's X-Race drag racing championship is this Sunday 10th October at Elvington. And I have a sneaky feeling that, with the right conditions, there's gonna be some super fast times set at this meeting... Racing usually kicks off at around 10am, so if you're intending on racing then please get there in good time so that you can sign-on. It costs just £30 to race and for that you get unlimited runs up the strip (well, as many as you can muster). Trophies (courtesy of Straightliners) are also awarded to the quickest machines in a series of Eliminations rounds at the end of the day. If you only get to one X-Race round this year (either to race or spectate) then make sure you get to this one for the final showdown!

For those of you who've not been to Elvington before, here's how to get there:

Elvington airfield (Halifax Way, Elvington. YO4 5AU) is located in North Yorkshire (near York). From the south, get onto the M1 northbound, take the M1/A1 link near Leeds onto the A1, leave the A1 and get onto the A64 following signs for York, heading towards York up the A64 you will eventually see signs for 'Air Museum'. Leave the A64 then go straight ahead at the roundabout and filter into the right-hand lane down the B1228. Elvington airfield is situated adjacent to the Air Museum on your right approximately 2 miles down the B1228.
