MARCH
2005
30/03/05 :
Some excellent times were achieved at Elvington at the weekend despite the grim conditions. A wet track doesn't bode well
for drag racing but nevertheless both Joe Elliott and Andy Pearson managed to crack the 100mph terminal speed for the quarter mile
from a standing start. This is the first time in the history of scooter drag racing that this has been achieved with an automatic
scooter engine. Both Andy and Joe achieved this by racing modified Italjet Dragsters. Well done to both of them. Head on over to the official X-Race UK website for all the results from X-Race
Round 1 at Elvington in North Yorkshire (UK). X-Race Round 2 is already upon us and it's this Sunday (03 April) at Shakespeare County Raceway (aka Avon Park) in Warwickshire. For directions,
check out X-Race website once again or the Shakespeare County Raceway website. See you there!
24/03/05 :
This Sunday (27 March) is drag racing day with the first round of the 2005 X-Race Series kicking off at Elvington in North Yorkshire.
Those of you who are intending on racing will no doubt be aware that the new rules system will be coming in to effect. If
you aren't aware of any of this, then please take a look at the official X-Race UK website for the full low-down on the 2005 rules.
Straightliners are becoming more stringent now in making sure that riders take the necessary precautions this year, more so than last year, particularly
after the incident at the Isle of Man. So please make sure you understand their requirements before turning up at the venue. If you can't
race because you haven't brought the proper gear, then that's your fault, no-one elses. X-Race is still an informal affair and promises to be
just as much fun as last year. The racing starts at around 10am so please make sure that you are there in plenty of time so that you can sign-on etc.
Round 2 of the X-Race 2005 Series will take place on the 3rd April at Shakespeare County Raceway. Which is the weekend after the first round at Elvington.
Hopefully I should see some of you Southerners attending this round, no excuses for not coming up North cos it's too far this time!
