Send your name and full postal address and don't forget to state which colour you would like. If you're coming to Santa Pod on Saturday, you can buy stickers from me at the event priced £2 each.

Also... MJ Designs are making some official Italjet Dragster.com speedo faces, the first batch will be a limited edition design and will probably be numbered. Price will be around £30 (plus postage and packing). More info and pictures shortly...

29/07/02 : Not long now 'til the SANTA POD HIJACK which is this coming Saturday! Stuart Owen at Team 100-mph Lambretta.com tells me we can expect a lot of classic scooters there on the day, apparently one scooter club will be turning up in full-force (around 20 to 30 scooters). So let's see all you automatic owners on the strip! As a special extra, for only £5 Santa Pod will allow you to camp overnight so you can enjoy the RWYB (Run What Ya Brung) the next day. Which is worth it particularly if you're travelling some distance to Santa Pod. See you there!

22/07/02 : JASScooters new carbon fibre parts are almost here. After 18 months research and development and a few thousand pounds invested JASScooters are expecting their first batch of carbon fibre parts due to come off the production line in about 2 weeks time as the finishing touches are just being made. The parts aren't mass-produced and require a skilled labour intensive production technique.

So how do they differ from other carbon fibre parts made by other companies? JASScooters say they only use the best materials - "our carbon fibre is made with epoxy resins (not polyester as used for fibre glass) which are 100% compatible with the carbon weave materials and our production process which includes a high pressure, high temperature curing process means that your parts will not fall apart and de-laminate. On most parts we will produce 'edge to edge' carbon weave, that means we are not hiding unsightly workmanship under black resin, all parts are high gloss 3D finish".

JASScooters will be bringing a few examples for viewing at the SANTA POD HIJACK. Depending on how well these new carbon fibre parts sell, JASScooters are expecting to have around 6 to 10 different parts available before the end of the year. Furthermore, JASScooters think that the people who have enquired about their carbon fibre parts and waited all this time will not be disappointed since they aim to provide a 'quality' product.

17/07/02 : UPDATE: Dragster Gallery Collection 21 now on-line featuring a few shots from Sunday's racing at Santa Pod. Joe's Dragster is now a purpose-built racer running on Avgas, check out the fantastic blue/yellow metal flake paint job too which is the work of Strange Paints in South End. More pics of Joe's bike later.

16/07/02 : A trip to Santa Pod on Sunday was in order to run-in my newly re-built engine (tuned by Chiselspeed) and get a few practice runs in before the forthcoming SANTA POD HIJACK. The day was hot and so was my engine, and the conditions were perfect for the Visual Voodoo Film crew who showed up to get some footage of myself and Joe Elliot for a forthcoming TV series to be broadcast on the Bravo channel (satellite channel). More news on this "fifteen minutes of fame" later... As for the sprinting 8.5 stone Joe set himself a new quarter-mile best of 14.026 seconds at 85.64 mph on his aviation fueled Dragster. To my knowledge this is the current fastest UK record on an automatic. Weighing 5 stone more than Joe and given that my brand new engine isn't fully run-in yet I didn't break any records (nor bones either), my best time for the day leaves room for improvement; fastest quarter mile time 16.440 at 66.13, fastest terminal speed for the day 71.67. Lighter rollers and a few carb tweaks are in order methinks (along with a new tyre after a couple of burnouts). A few pictures from the day can be found in the Gallery shortly.

07/07/02 : Check out this one-off Italjet Formula Air, specially designed to commemorate the World Cup 2002. Liveried with England colours, the scoot has pictures of Sven Goran Eriksson, David Beckham and Michael Owen on its nose. The bike is available to view at Small Cars and Scooters in Derby (01332 703007). A picture of the World Cup is painted onto the front bumper and the English flag is detailed over the seat and rear panels. In addition the handlebars are painted to look like an England football shirt. This machine is only available by internet auction at Italjet UK's website. The starting bid is £1749.00 and the closing date is 14/07/02. Better hurry though, not long left now... Click on the image below for more info.

05/07/02 : Take a look at this picture taken in Milan in 1996. It's an early prototype of the Dragster 50, spot the styling differences. Thanks to Scott Lanes for the image.

04/07/02 UPDATE: The Dragster Gallery has reached a new milestone, Collection 20 is now on-line which brings the Dragster Gallery collection alone up to a total of 560 unique images. The total number of pictures across the entire Gallery currently stands at a grand total of 868.

02/07/02 : Check out the summer edition of Classic & Modern Scooterist Scene (issue 33) which features a couple of custom Drags: Grant West's in California and Paul Vincent Pua's (aka Aerosmith) in the Philippines. I wrote this feature along with a piece on sprinting and the up-and-coming Santa Pod Hijack.

Scooterist Scene is available by subscription only and is currently produced quarterly. If you'd like to subscribe then send a cheque for £10 (£18 Europe / £22 rest of world) made payable to 'Scooterist' to this address:
