JANUARY 2004

22/01/04 : Some very interesting news has just come in regarding the future of Italjet:

"In a strategic move aimed at asserting its dominance on the modern scooters category, Kinetic Motor Company announced that it had entered into a special alliance with renowned Italian two wheeler maker Italjet for modern scooters. Under this alliance, Kinetic has acquired complete manufacturing and distribution rights for seven bestselling brands from Italjet’s range of scooters. These rights include sale in India as well as global exports. The seven scooters are expected to be launched in a phased manner over the next two years, and will revolutionalize the modern scooters segment in India. The scooters portfolio comprises an exciting variety of designs from retro, modern, futuristic to maxiscooters, from 75cc to 250 cc engine capacities."

16/01/04 UPDATE: First Gallery update of the year and Dragster Gallery Collection 34 is now on-line. In it you will find a cool selection of custom Drags; Tom Speirs' "Knight Rider" soon to be featured in T&G, Daz Blackburn's excellent custom Drag bearing the St. George's cross (paintjob by THAT clown, Mr. Alan Turner). My second Dragster entitled 'FREAK' is featured in this Gallery, paintjob once again by the seemingly ubiquitous Alan Turner. My original Fluoro Orange Dragster is also featured in this Gallery. Anyway, check out the pics.

15/01/04 : The latest issue (24) of Twist & Go hits the shops today. Alan Turner's 'Delirium' adorns the cover. Content in this issue: 'Custom Scoot Info Special' (written by yours truly) which is hopefully a step in the right direction for those of us who like nothing better than tuning and customising our machines. In the rest of the mag you'll find:

Dragster engine re-build (Part 2) • Scooter Attack Sprinter • SYM Joyride Test • ET4 Italian Tour • Technical Tips • X9 500 Evolution Impressions part 1 • Winter Preparation • WIN A SYM DD50

12/01/04 : Well, the National Motorcycle Show at the Manchester G-MEX ended yesterday. A successful weekend for Rich Haywood, his first professional show, the man's a star! I think his 'Jackass' style stuntin' went down really well with the crowd. Can't wait to see the pics, so keep a look out for my 'Extreme Scootering Part 3' in T&G If you came to the show you will have also seen my Dragster on display along with Paul Melici's 'Equinox' Runner at the Straightliners / X-Race stand. It was nice for me to put a few names to faces too. The photo shoot for Loaded magazine took place yesterday at London's Ace Cafe, by all accounts it went really well, free bar too! A big thanks to everyone who made it to the Ace, for this, can't wait to see Loaded when it comes out!

05/01/04 : First of all, I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2003 was quite a good year as far as the development of the auto scene goes despite the fact that the production of the two-stroke Dragster as we know it has now ceased along with Italjet going down the pan... In spite of all this though, the Dragster scene has grown stronger and long may it continue... The future's bright, the future's plastic!

Anyway, another year and a fresh start. 2004 kicks off with the National Motorcycle Show at the Manchester G-MEX which is lo' and behold, this weekend! Friday 9th Jan. the show begins. Scooter stunt-meister Rich Haywood will be at the show performing a few tricks in front of the crowds on Sat. 10th Jan and Sunday 11th. Meanwhile, in the main hall will be an X-Race exhibition space for you to peruse which will feature the current three fastest scooters in the country (as per 2003 X-Race results). Regardless of all this X-Race goodness, the show promises to be a good 'un with all of the usual on offer; bikes, laydeez, clothing, accessories etc. So get yourselves to Manchester this weekend if you haven't got owt else better to do.

More X-Race news... Having recently heard back from Shakespeare County Raceway I've been given the go ahead for holding future X-Race rounds at this venue which is good news for many of you in the south. However, the dates for X-Race Championship rounds for 2004 have already been set and cannot really be changed since the press releases have now been sent out. However, I am currently considering an additional non-championship date at Avon Park as follows:

30/31st October 2004 - X-Race / Halloween Showdown!

This date is currently being pencilled in and will take place after the final round of the Championship which takes place on 10th October at Elvington. Keep a note of the above date in your diaries anyway and make sure you haven't got anything else planned!
