Following encouragement from several sources, there will be an unofficial scooter sprint competition at SantaPod's 'Run What Ya Brung' event on July 15th. If you have any kind of scooter, why not try it up the strip? All you have to do is turn up with the appropriate entrance fee and suitable clothing. Stuart Owen's 100-mph Lambretta sprinter will be there, and you will also be able to see a vast array of fast motorcycles and cars. PM Tuning are entering into the spirit of the thing, and sponsoring trophies for the quickest times of the day in three classes: Automatic, Vespa and Lambretta. The event will be covered in Scootering and Twist & Go magazines.
 
Santa Pod are informed about the event and they say "the more the merrier". Note that the event is not all about having a fully tuned superbike, come and try out your own bike on the strip for a taste of the action. Timing tickets are available for every run which give details of 60 foot, 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile times and speeds. This is one of the best ways to see how your bike is performing and work out where you can improve.
 
Entrants: try to arrive around 9.00 to 9.30 am if possible as you need to sign-on. If the raceway reaches a certain capacity Santa Pod will close signing-on, so you'd be advised get there as early as you can to avoid disappointment. Spectators can turn up at any time, but get there early if you can.
 
IMPORTANT: don't forget your Driver's Licence which you will need to present when sigining-on in order to race.
 
Attire: wear sensible clothing i.e. protective jacket, gloves, boots (with ankle protection), don't turn up in shorts and t-shirt expecting to race!
 
Admission: fee is £8.00 plus an additional £10.00 to enter your bike for an unlimited amount of runs.
